The LA Clippers’ City jersey may have leaked online.

There’s not a lot of news right now in the NBA world, especially if you are a fan of the LA Clippers. While some teams may be preparing for the NBA Draft and focusing on coverage of that, the Clippers are sitting quietly due to not having any picks. Some teams are filling the void with announcements of their new jerseys for next season.

Teams, like the Golden State Warriors, are starting to show off their new City Edition uniforms. We fully expect the LA Clippers to get a new one this season and it appears the jersey may have leaked online.

The leak comes via Camisas Da NBA, a page that has correctly shown several other team’s uniforms right before their reveal including the aforementioned Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, and Phoenix Suns.

While we can’t say that the tweet is 100% accurate and that this will be the team’s jersey, the track record combined with the fact that it’s just an alternate colorway of this past season’s much beloved design makes it seem pretty likely.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Nike has opted for an alternate color of a successful jersey. The Miami Heat have gotten several recolors of their Vice City themed jerseys over the past few years. Going for a black version of the Mister Cartoon logo jersey makes sense for the Clippers, especially considering how well it matches their home court and the fact that they have had other black alternate uniforms over the past couple of seasons. After all, the saying is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

While some teams are getting crazy re-designs for their jerseys, I’ll be happy if this is accurate just because of the simplicity. Keeping the Mister Cartoon design is the right move and further helps build the brand that the Clippers have worked towards.
