LA Clippers: Agents Call Kawhi Leonard the Best Player in NBA
In part 2 of the anonymous agent survey, agents were asked who the best player in the league is, and LA Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard’s name came up.
At least this time, agents were more kind to the LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard. In part 1 of the survey of anonymous agents leaguewide, one agent said that they expected the Clippers to blow it up and trade Kawhi.
In part two of the survey via The Athletic (subscription required), 20 agents were asked, under the condition of anonymity, to answer several questions, one of which was “Who’s the best player in the league?”
Players got 1 full point if an agent answered with just that player. So if an agent said “LeBron James is the best player,” LeBron got 1 full point. If an agent said “LeBron James and Kevin Durant are the best players in the NBA,” LeBron and KD got 0.5 points each.
LeBron came in first with 11 points, and our guy Kawhi Leonard was in second place with 3. Outside of the reigning finals MVP, the most agents thought the Klaw is the best player in the league.
It’s hard to disagree with the results. A lot us fans of the LA Clippers would probably side with Kawhi as the best player, but if you win the finals and win Finals MVP, you get a boost in that regard.
That said, Kawhi was an All-NBA talent and an All-Defense defender. He led the team to its first ever second seed and put in a fantastic playoffs performance, regardless of the outcome. He’s one of the absolute best two-way players in the league, with a game that is built for the postseason.
This also puts another spike in the opinion we talked about in the previous survey, that the Clippers might trade Kawhi and blow things up. The team has a player who is considered by some to be the best player in the league, and he turned 29 this season. You don’t trade those.
It’s nice to see that agents leaguewide have the same respect for Kawhi that fans of the team do. And as Kawhi and the rest of the Clippers use the offseason to get ready for another run next season, follow along on Twitter and Facebook for up to the date discussion!
