One of the LA Clippers’ free agents seemingly wants to return to the team.

The LA Clippers are entering one of their most important offseasons as a franchise. The team is in the midst of a head coach search. They have the impending free agency of both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Everything that happens in the next year or so rides on what they do during the offseason. Luckily, one of their own free agents at least seems like he wants to return.

Who is it? JaMychal Green.

For Green, I use the term “free agent” loosely. Green does have the choice to pick up or decline his player option for the 2020-21 season (or whatever we end up calling it).

Green has been pretty much the only member of this year’s Clippers’ team to post following their disappointing collapse and loss to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs. His first post came on Instagram just days later with the caption “Still don’t know how tf we lost”.

Yesterday, Green posted the above picture, seemingly reminiscing about his time with his teammates this season, focusing on Ivica Zubac and Montrezl Harrell. While we think Harrell is probably gone, it’s still reassuring to see Green thinking about his Clippers’ teammates.

If Harrell does leave, Green is a must re-sign for the Clippers. He can play alongside Ivica Zubac as a stretch four and also can play the center position for the bench unit. This season, Green put up extremely solid numbers in 20.7 minutes per game. He scored just 6.8 points per game but shot well from the field, converting on 42.9% of his shots (38.7% from deep). He also added in 6.2 rebounds per game. Not only is he more than capable on the floor but he was handpicked by Kawhi Leonard when Leonard joined the team in the summer of 2019.

During that summer, Green, by his own admission, turned down several other bigger offers from other teams in order to come back to the Clips. Will he do it again? We can only hope.

This Clippers’ roster has to feel like there is unfinished business after blowing that 3-1 lead this postseason so hopefully, as many of them that want to return will. If the right guys come back and the team picks the right head coach, they could right their wrongs from this season.
