Shaquille O’Neal doubts the LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard’s takeover ability

One former player and famed analyst, Shaquille O’Neal, has lost nearly all hope in the LA Clippers as they enter an undesirable Game 7 with their backs against the wall after losing two in a row to the Denver Nuggets.

After going up 3-1 on the Nuggets, the Clippers have surrendered two straight games and the momentum has completely swung over to Denver’s side.

Denver, who lost three straight games and were nearly eliminated by the Utah Jazz in the opening round, faces their second-straight Game 7 in the postseason and second straight comeback from being down 3-1.

The Clippers were the series favorite coming in and one of the teams that looked built to win a title, but a lack of series adjustments from head coach Doc Rivers has made it tough for the Clippers to capitalize on their opportunity. Of course, the resilience of the Nuggets can not be understated, either.

LA can not give up at this point.

Shaq gave his take speaking to Mark Carman and FanSided, speaking on behalf of American Express’s Coalition to Back Black Businesses. Information on the coalition can be found at the end of this article.

Shaq speaks on why he thinks the Nuggets will beat the Clippers in Game 7

Speaking to Carman, O’Neal gave his take on Game 7 (which tips off Tuesday night at 6PM Pacific) and who he thinks will win.

First, he doubted Kawhi Leonard.

"“Kawhi can’t do it by himself. They don’t really have shooters, now they can’t beat you up on defense, but Denver playing loose, playing free. Yo know, when you count the Denver Nuggets out, that’s when they play hard.”"

Leonard, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, might be able to do it by himself. Arguably, he has in the past.

When one looks at the success of the Toronto Raptors last season, it’s easy to attribute a good amount of their postseason run to Leonard. Given how good the Raptors have been in the midst of his departure this season, though, it’s clear there were a variety of X-Factors on Toronto’s roster, including the bold coaching style of Nick Nurse.

Leonard doesn’t want to do it all by himself, even if he can. It’s part of why he campaigned for the Clips to land another star over the summer in order to secure his own services.

Shaq then questioned LA’s other star, Paul George.

"“I hate to say it but Playoff P ain’t been Playoff P. And he’s the wild card. So if he has a great game and goes off the Clippers will win.”"

George has been present in this series. At many points, he’s looked like playoff PG13. Aside from a quiet offensive Game 4, George has been solid, and his defense is still top-tier even when he’s not hitting shots.

And finally, Shaq flat out said the Nuggets should be relaxed.

"“Put it this way, they’re sleeping much [more] comfortable than the Clippers are sleeping [Monday night].”"

We’ll find out what happens for the LA Clippers in Game 7 on Tuesday night, which tips off at 6PM Pacific and can be streamed on Fubo.tv.
