Draymond Green believes the LA Clippers are better than the Lakers
Draymond Green thinks the LA Clippers are better than the Los Angeles Lakers.
Appearing as an analyst on TNT’s Friday night basketball coverage, Warriors forward Draymond Green stated that he believes the LA Clippers are better than the LA Lakers.
Having an injury-riddled team this season and being left out of the Orlando bubble, the Golden State Warriors have their eyes set on returning back to their peak form next season.
As of now, other players such as Draymond Green, filled in for Shaquille O’Neal during Friday night’s doubleheader between the Magic vs. the 76ers and the Celtics vs the Raptors.
During Inside the NBA, Ernie Johnson posed the question to Draymond Green asking him, “Which team in LA would you think, based on your experience, is the better bunch?”
Draymond immediately responded with this.
"“I have a hard time picking against the Clippers, and the reason being, they can put out so many different lineups”."
Green went in-depth on describing the Clippers’ ability to mix and match lineups.
"“You want to go big, they can go big, you want to go small, they can go small. Three-point shooting, defense, whatever you want, they can put those lineups out there on the floor”."
Green ended his statement adding why the Clippers’ versatility will help them in the postseason.
“When you got that in the Playoffs it’s all about matchups when you can match up with anyone, that’s going to be tough to beat”.
Last month, Draymond made an appearance on both ESPN’s First Take (wearing a Klutch Sports shirt) and Jalen and Jacoby.
He picked the Lakers as his favorite to win it all in the Orlando Bubble.
But the question that Ernie Johnson asked wasn’t who he thought would win the title but rather who has the better team. based on his experience playing both squads.
Well if you look at Green’s experience with both teams, you would recall the history and tension that the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors have gone through the last decade, including 2 heated Playoff series (2014, 2019).
Green’s Warriors haven’t played any meaningful games against the Lakers during his tenure since they haven’t been in the postseason since Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke was number one on the Billboard (2013).
This is the second consecutive night that an NBA player tells the world that the Clippers are better and deeper than the Lakers with Green’s former teammate Kevin Durant sharing his Finals prediction yesterday.
Earning high praise from two players that were on the most dominant team in the last five years shows just how far this LA Clippers team has gone from a laughingstock to a legitimate powerhouse that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
That being said, the Clippers play the Portland Trail Blazers today at 10:00 AM PST/ 1:00 PM EST on TNT and Fox Sports Prime Ticket.
The team is also expected to have forward Montrezl Harrell back early next week as the NBA Playoffs begin on August 18th.
After today’s contest, the team has three games left including the second night of a back-to-back tomorrow against the Brooklyn Nets.
