Here are three players the LA Clippers could add to their expanded roster.

With the season set to resume in Orlando at the end of July, there are some adjustments being made by the NBA. One of these adjustments is to expand the rosters to allow teams to carry up to seventeen players. Here are three players the LA Clippers could add to their roster.

Tyler Johnson could come in as an additional guard to have on the roster. Keep in mind, players added this late as the 17th man are going to be a “break glass in case of emergency” type of player”. At 28-years-old, Johnson would be ready to play pretty quickly, despite the hiatus.

Johnson started the year on the Phoenix Suns, appearing on 31 games for the team. He was not a big scorer for the team and fell out of the rotation. His shooting over his career has been solid, converting on 35.8% of his three-point attempts.

In Phoenix though, his percentages dipped, converting on just 28.9% on 2.7 attempts per game. Given the quality of players he would be around if he did have to play during the postseason, the Clippers would desperately need him to be a knockdown shooter.

Even though he wouldn’t add a lot to the roster, I had advocated possibly signing him earlier in the season, prior to Reggie Jackson being bought out.

No, he wouldn’t fill any “holes” on the team, but Johnson is a player with experience who could contribute in a helpful way if he was forced to play minutes during the postseason.
