If a series happens between the LA Clippers and Lakers, here are three reasons the Clippers would win.

The NBA is still discussing a way to come back from the COVID-19 hiatus but all signs point towards the 2019-20 season continuing. If and when it does, a matchup between the LA Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers seems likely. When the two LA teams do meet, here are three reasons the Clippers would win a series.

Superior coaching

Doc Rivers has an NBA championship. Frank Vogel does not. The idea that the Clippers have superior coaching isn’t just that black and white though.

Rivers has been a head coach for 21 seasons while Vogel has been a head coach for just nine. Experience is a big factor, especially in the postseason. Vogel does have a fair amount of experience from his time as the coach of the Indiana Pacers. It’s not a huge difference but Rivers does have a slight edge.

Beyond those two, the Clippers have a second former NBA championship-winning head coach as lead assistant in Tyronn Lue. Beyond him, the team has a defensive guru in Rex Kalamian whose philosophies are excelling with the roster the team has constructed.

The Lakers have two former head coaches as assistants in Jason Kidd and Lionel Hollins but neither found much success in the league as head coaches. They do provide more experience to the staff but obviously have had their rough goes of it in the league.

It’s hard to compare coaching staffs so this one is a complete opinion. Still, give me the championship-winning coaches on my staff.
