Comparing Paul George and Scottie Pippen

  • 1997-98 Bulls: Scottie Pippen
  • 2019-20 Clippers: Paul George

Every Batman needs his Robin. In the Bulls case, Jordan needed Pippen and in the Clippers case, Kawhi needs Paul George.

Pippen and George are both lengthy 6’8 forwards that are capable of taking over games when given the opportunity.

Both players are the 1B’s to their respective teams and know their role. They don’t mind the spot-light not being on them but are always there at the end of games when it matters most.

Pippen was a better play-maker and sightly better defender than George, but PG’s ball-handling and sweet-shooting is what makes these players almost mirror images of each other.

Many may believe that this comparison is not close at all but this is the first time in George’s career that he has played alongside a proven winner and forward that has a similar play-style.

Should the 2019-20 season resume, expect George to shut out all the critics like Pippen did and prove why he is also one of the best two-way players in the game.
