LA Clippers: The best shooting guards in franchise history
LA Clippers best shooting guards in franchise history: 1) Jamal Crawford
Before Lou Williams, there was Jamal Crawford.
The six-foot-five inch guard spent 19 seasons and established himself as one of the best bench pieces in the NBA. He spent five seasons as a key player for the Los Angeles Clippers, winning two of his three career Sixth Man of the Year awards as a member of the team.
Crawford joined the Clippers in his 13th year in the league after spending the first 12 years of his career on five different teams (Chicago, New York, Golden State, Atlanta, Portland).
In his five years in Los Angeles, Crawford would average 15.3 points per game adding 2.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds per contest. He shot 35.4 percent from beyond the three-point arc in 5.1 attempts per game in his 370 career games with the Clippers.
Crawford is third all-time in three-point shots made, and first in attempts for the franchise. On November 2, 2015, as a member of the Clippers, Crawford became the third shooting guard in all of NBA history to reach 16,000 career points. When he was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year for the third time in his career, at age 36, he broke his own record for the oldest player to ever receive the award.
The Clippers traded Crawford along with Diamond Stone and a 2018 first round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks in part of a three-team trade that brought Danilo Gallinari to Los Angeles.
Crawford’s high-quality play off the bench, and his status as a fan favorite during his time with team land him as our number one shooting guard in LA Clippers franchise history.
