LA Clippers best shooting guards in franchise history: 2) JJ Redick

The sharpshooting guard out of Duke has enjoyed a long and productive NBA career. He has famously never missed the playoffs in his 14 seasons in the league (a record in danger of being broken this year in his first year with the New Orleans Pelicans.)

The height of his career is undoubtedly the four seasons he spent spacing the floor and knocking down three-point shots as the starting two-guard for the Lob City era LA Clippers.

Redick came to the Clippers from the Milwaukee Bucks on July 10, 2013 in a three-team trade also involving the Phoenix Suns. The Clippers gave up a 2016 second round draft pick to the Bucks and shipped Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Suns in the deal.

The six-foot-three inch guard gave the Lob City Clippers the floor spacing they needed so teams couldn’t overcrowd the lane to defend the devastating pick-and-roll offense created by Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan. His shooting would fill a vital need for the team during the most successful run in the history of the franchise.

Redick would go on to average 15.8 points per game in his 266 contests as a member of the Clippers. He would shoot an incredible 44 percent from beyond the three-point line on just under six attempts per game in his time with Los Angeles.

The Philadelphia 76ers lured Redick away from Los Angeles in the summer of 2017, when the team would sign him to a one-year, $23-million contract to help spread the floor for Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
