LA Clippers: The best point guards in franchise history
LA Clippers best point guards in franchise history: 1) Chris Paul
If you didn’t already know, the best point guard in LA Clippers franchise history is none other than Chris Paul.
Paul was already a four-time All Star with the New Orleans Hornets before he was traded to the Clippers in December 2011 in exchange for Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and a 2012 1st round draft pick.
His arrival in Los Angeles would mark the official start of the Lob City era in which he teamed up with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to bring some of the most exciting basketball in the NBA to the city.
In his first season with the team, Paul would be named All-NBA First Team, becoming the first Clippers player to earn the honor since the team moved to Los Angeles. Paul would be named to five more All-Star appearances in his six seasons with the Clippers. More importantly, the team would make the playoffs in each of his six years with the franchise.
Paul is the franchise leader in assists, second all-time in steals, ranks sixth in points, and sets the pace for the franchise all-time in the advanced categories of Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, and Value Over Replacement Player.
In his six seasons with the team, Paul averaged 18.8 points, 9.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game.
Paul is a future Hall-of-Famer who lead the team to their most productive stretch in franchise history. It’s no doubt that he comes in as the number one point guard in LA Clippers franchise history.
