The LA Clippers will be opening their practice facility on Monday, May 17, to allow players to rehabilitate and work out on a limited and voluntary basis.

After remaining silent as other teams announced the reopening of their facilities, the LA Clippers have finally made a decision. On Monday, May 17, the team will open up their practice facility on a limited and voluntary basis.

Players will be tested as they enter the facility and will only be able to perform limited activities which includes rehabilitation and physical wellness activities.

The team has made sure to keep players in shape during the COVID-19 pandemic, issuing training equipment early on and having team workouts via Zoom. Still, having the guys get back in the gym and having all their equipment and trainers available is much more valuable.

The NBA still has not made its final decision on how or even if the 2019-20 season will resume but a decision is expected before the end of the month. The league has evaluated several options to keep play going including playing at either Las Vegas or Disney World in quarantined games, a tournament-style postseason, or even just finishing out the year almost as normal with no fans in attendance.

While we await that decision, it makes sense that teams are eager to get back onto the court. Several stars including LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and more got together just last week to talk about how the season could resume and how they were all in favor of returning.

Antetokounmpo has not been able to play basketball since quarantine started and several other players must be in the same boat. Getting the facilities open is at least a step in the right direction for resuming play.

The league will have to tread lightly as they want to avoid any more of their players, coaches, or staff receiving a COVID-19 diagnosis. If that were to happen, we have to imagine that the league would again be shut down and likely would not resume the season a second time.
