In honor of Star Wars day on May 4, we take the time to make comparisons between LA Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Star Wars franchise.

May the 4th be with you! In honor of Star Wars Day, the Clipperholics writers sat down and discussed the multi-media franchise and compared it to the two top teams in the Western Conference, the LA Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers. No, this won’t be a perfect comparison but there’s no basketball on television so let’s have some fun.

Let’s get started with the Emperor himself, LeBron James. Look, I don’t hate LeBron (I’m an avid defender of him) but let’s not act like he’s anything but the Emperor himself. He may not actually control the league but c’mon. He controls the league.

Then we have his apprentice, Darth Vader. As Anakin Skywalker, he was young and had great talent. According to Obi-Wan Kenobi, he was supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them. Anthony Davis fits that mold of a young, highly touted player. He at one point looked to be the future face of the league and would destroy super teams and duos. Instead, he joined LeBron in Los Angeles after flipping to the dark side. (That’s All Folks tee shirt and refusing to play, anyone?)

Luckily for the NBA, the LA Clippers have Luke Skywalker in Kawhi Leonard. Coming out of a smaller school in San Diego State, he wasn’t expected to be who he has become. Joining this summer, he provided Clipper Nation hope, something they didn’t have a lot of in the past. Was he the lone savior? No, there is another.

Hailing from a nearby area in Palmdale, Paul George is the other leader the Clippers needed. Our only comparison for him was Leia, only due to the shared leadership and hope he gave the team.

The Clippers also have a duo akin to R2D2 and C-3PO. Though they aren’t as talked about as the two stars, Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams fit that role. You cannot imagine one without the other and are necessary for a successful Rebellion.

That leaves Han Solo who is a little rough on the edges but endeared by those around him. Sound familiar? Yes, it’s Patrick Beverley. The lovable scoundrel might not go about getting the job done in the traditional way but is a born leader and will do whatever it takes for those around him.

Oh, and Ivica Zubac is Chewbacca. Duh.

Let’s hope that like the movies, the Rebellion comes out on top. Do you agree with these comparisons? Have any others you would suggest? Let us know on Twitter and make sure to keep checking back here for all your LA Clippers coverage!
