Two former LA Clippers make ESPN’s ‘most disrespectful dunks’ list
The Lob City era LA Clippers are well-represented on a new list of the top 10 most disrespectful dunks in NBA history from ESPN’s Get Up and Jalen Rose.
Two former members of the legendary Lob City era of LA Clippers basketball made a recent list of the top 10 most disrespectful dunks of all-time. The list, put together by ESPN’s morning show Get Up and co-host Jalen Rose celebrates some of the most vicious, posterizing throw-downs in NBA history.
The first appearance by a former Clipper comes in at number eight on the countdown when Blake Griffin is featured dunking over Paul Gasol twice in a game against the Lakers from April 4, 2012. The first dunk is a nasty two-handed throwback after a missed corner three attempt from Randy Foye. Griffin skies over the unexpecting Gasol, and casually steps over his victim after knocking him to the floor.
Later in the same game, Griffin receives a bounce pass from Chris Paul at the block and is met by Gasol mid-air as he tried to defend the dunk. Obviously, things don’t turn out well for the former Laker as Griffin powers through him, somehow propelled even higher into the air by the contact, and finished with authority. The dunk is celebrated with Griffin receiving a monster shove from teammate DeAndre Jordan while Gasol pleads his case to the referee after being called for a personal foul.
A few spots later, Jordan makes the cut himself with a dunk co-host Mike Greenberg can’t believe didn’t top the list entirely. Jordan’s dunk over Brandon Knight on a lob from Chris Paul caused Twitter to explode with instant reactions to the absolute physical dominance on display from the Clippers’ big man.
Jordan’s face afterwards sums it all up pretty well.
Knight even clowned himself on Twitter after the incident.
The Lob City Clippers were well-known for reigning down fury via dunks over the opposition. This list is a nice trip down memory lane for Clippers fans to the disrespectful dunking days of the recent past.
