The current voice of the LA Clippers, Brian Sieman, joined The Clipset Podcast to talk the team and shared his wildest Ralph Lawler story.

The LA Clippers play-by-play announcer, Brian Sieman, joined The Clipset podcast (hosted by Joseph Raya Ward and Clipperholics contributor, Brian Cullen) this week to talk the team, the hiatus, and most importantly, the impact of Ralph Lawler.

Sieman is in his first year as the team’s play-by-play announcer after the retirement of Lawler. He has big shoes to fill following the 40-year veteran but so far this season Sieman looked to be up to par. His unique calls such as “leather larceny” have already become part of Clipper Nation’s vocabulary.

On The Clipset Podcast, Sieman recanted some of his times with Lawler (at the time he was the team’s radio host) and was coaxed into sharing the wildest story he could remember about Lawler. You can hear the beginning of the story in the video below as well as the full pod.

Long story short, Ralph has a penchant for closing down bars in every city the team visits. During one stop, Brian remembers that Ralph didn’t get his dinner quickly, so he opted for a few drinks. In no time he was up and chatting with everyone in the restaurant. Brian expected Ralph to not feel well the next day.

Instead, he saw Ralph in the lobby of the team’s hotel first thing in the morning, sporting a smile and seeming as well as ever. Sieman states he has a liver of gold or the Kawhi Leonard of livers. Lawler is likely putting that liver to use now in retirement after forty years with the team.

Next. Expect Kawhi Leonard to be ready when the season resumes. dark

While we may not hear Brian Sieman on our TV’s calling a LA Clippers game for a while still, it was nice to hear him even for just an hour and get the behind the scene look at he and Ralph’s relationship.
