8 teams Patrick Beverley & Montrezl Harrell should pick in 2K tournament
Both Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell of the LA Clippers are in the NBA 2K tournament on ESPN. Here are the 8 teams they should pick.
Both Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell of the LA Clippers have been selected as participants in ESPN’s NBA 2K tournament on Friday.
We now have official rules, including how the tournament will be structured and how team selection will work. The first and second rounds of the tournament will be single-elimination rounds with the last two rounds (semi-finals and finals) being the best of three series. This doesn’t seem too wild but the way team selection happens will make things interesting.
All 16 participants must submit a list of eight teams prior to the start of the tournament. The players will only be able to use each team once in the tournament which means they have to be smart with who they pick.
It’s safe to assume that teams will only be able to pick from current teams and not use either historic teams nor all-time teams. We would also have to assume that none of them will select any of the various European teams.
I have one other assumption. With Kevin Durant in this tournament, I won’t be surprised that they have injuries turned off so he can at one point or another play as himself. Just a thought.
With all of that in mind, let’s run through eight teams that Beverley and Harrell should consider.
Spoiler alert: I’m not putting the Los Angeles Lakers on the list.
Would I be surprised if either picks them? No. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are two of the top-rated players in the game and the Lakers have the second-highest average rating in the game. But it’s the Lakers. I don’t want to see Bev nor Trezz win with them. That’s no fun.
Who are the eight then? Let’s get into it!
