Clippers home debut vs. Atlanta – November 16, 2019

George didn’t play his first game of the 2019-20 season until November 14 where he put up 33 points, nine rebounds, and four assists in a road loss to the Pelicans. But we’re not here to talk about that loss.

Two days later, George made his debut as a Clipper in Los Angeles, and lead the team to a 150-101 victory over the Hawks with a staggering 37 point, four rebound, three assist, two steal, one block performance. He did it all in just 20 minutes of action.

George was incredibly efficient, shooting 11-17 from the field (6-11 from three) and made all of his 11 attempts from the free throw line on his way to scoring a game-high 37.

He made NBA history, becoming the first player to score that many points in fewer than 21 minutes of action. He also became the first Clippers player to score more than 30 points in their first two games with the team.

“He knows I had him on a time limit, so he’s trying to get it all in,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said.

George, a native of Palmdale California spoke about his excitement to finally be playing in Los Angeles as a member of a home-town team saying “It’s a dream come true to be able to do this at home in front of family and friends.”

For many Clippers fans, seeing PG in red white and blue, dominating on the floor at Staples Center for Los Angeles was a pinch-me moment as well. Since November, they’ve had plenty of chances to get used to it.
