Two players on the Los Angeles Lakers have tested positive for COVID-19 meaning players on the LA Clippers could be at a higher risk than previously thought.

Two players on the Los Angeles Lakers have tested positive for COVID-19, adding to the tally of NBA personnel to catch the virus. This news is impactful to the LA Clippers more so than other cases, however, as the two teams share the Staples Center. No other two teams in the league share the same stadium.

The Lakers will reportedly test more players who did not report to Wednesday’s testing, so the number could possibly increase.

The names of the players have not been released and won’t be unless they plan to self-identify.

There have not yet been any confirmed reports of members of the LA Clippers players or staff having tested positive for the virus or even having been tested at this point in time. We would have to assume that with members of the Lakers testing positive though, the Clippers organization will quickly follow suit as a precautionary measure.

Around the league, more and more positive tests are cropping up. Most recently, Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics informed the world he had been tested five days ago and has been self quarantining prior to finding out he was indeed positive for the virus today.

As the league and the rest of the world continue to try and wait out this situation, we encourage everyone to stay indoors and to follow all of the CDC’s guidelines. It may be a while before we see NBA basketball again but everyone getting healthy is the priority.
