LA Clippers’ season in review through the All-Star Break
Outlook
So what now? The LA Clippers have just 27 games remaining, one of which has yet to be rescheduled. The team sits in third place and dropping any lower would more than likely mean a second-round matchup versus the Los Angeles Lakers.
While they are 2-0 against them this season, avoiding them until the Western Conference Finals is still the ideal outcome. Creeping back up to the two seed would be nice but given the current injury situation paired with Kawhi likely sitting out more games, gaining ground there might be difficult.
There are some easy stints still on the schedule including one in late March where they will face the Suns, Knicks, Nets, Pistons, and Hornets consecutively. The team has had a history of playing down to their competition but if they can get past that, they could rattle off a good win streak.
In fact, according to Tankathon, the Clippers have the eighth easiest remaining schedule in the league.
While seeding does technically matter, all the team needs to worry about is getting healthy and developing chemistry. During his interview on TNT after winning All-Star MVP, Kawhi Leonard said as much. He noted that the team had about 10 full-strength practices this season and they just need to get right before the playoffs.
The regular season is winding down Clipper Nation. The LA Clippers have enough time to come together before the postseason and make a real push towards the Finals. As always, we will be covering them every step of the way so make sure you are following along on Twitter and checking back here often!
