Number 3: Pat won’t sign autographs without a “please”

Even though his performance in the Skills Challenge was a dud, Patrick Beverley was still a fan favorite. Prior to the competition, he was videoed heading into the tunnel where kids started to ask for autographs. What ensued was classic Pat Bev.

You can view the video below. In it, a few fans, including one in a sick Rugrats hoodie, are trying to get Bev to sign their memorabilia. Apparently, one of the kids is just asking “Can you sign this?”

Being the stand-up guy he is, Beverley refused, trying to get the child to use the word “please”. Once the young fan finally used the word, Bev proceeded to sign everything the fans were holding out.

Sounds like Pat’s mama raised him right! Athletes don’t owe any time to fans, despite what we may say. Even if you feel that they should take the time to sign autographs, a little decency goes a long way. It’s often forgotten that these players are still people so Beverley reminding fans that manners do matter is an important moment.

Mind your manners, everyone!
