The Bigs

Getting another center on the roster with some real size is key. Ivica Zubac is more than a capable starter and Montrezl Harrell, while not a great defender, provides a ton of offense. The big man the Clips pick up will simply be a big body that they can throw on the court for a few minutes in emergency cases. When I say emergency, I mean the Clippers are in the playoffs playing the Jazz or Nuggets, Zu rolls his ankle, and Montrezl Harrell needs a break or gets in foul trouble.

(I just knocked on every piece of wood in my office.)

I’m not saying these guys should ever touch the court outside of garbage time. But if the team is going to have all their bases covered, here are a few names listed with the team they are currently that could be bought out added.

John Henson – Detroit Pistons

John Henson isn’t a seven-footer. He’s only 6’9, which is just an inch taller than Trezz. Still, he has a 7’6″ wingspan and averages 1.5 blocks per game in his eight-year career. He’s not going to do much scoring but he has been around long enough and could would be a solid locker room guy.

Andrew Bogut – Sydney Kings

We saw Andrew Bogut back in the preseason two years ago with the Sydney Kings. Bogut showed his passing ability hasn’t disappeared despite him slowing down a bit. The fourteen-year NBA vet also played in the FIBA World Cup this summer for Australia where he averaged 8 points, 2.3 assists, and 6 rebounds. He’s a big body but his age might deter the team from him.

Bismack Biyombo – Charlotte Hornets

Arguably the best possible buyout candidate is Bismack Biyombo. The Hornets’ center is scoring 7.5 points per game this season and pulling down 5.9 boards in just 19.1 minutes per game. At twenty-seven years old he’s definitely on the younger side of potential buyout guys and could offer more energy if and when he came on the court.
