Players the LA Clippers Will Definitely Hold On To
17. Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard signed a max contract this summer for the LA Clippers and has already rooted himself as the team’s number one scoring option and perennial leader. Lawerence Frank and company would likely hang up the phone immediately in the event that a team inquired on Leonard after earning starting All-Star honors along with his 27.5 points per game while shooting at a 46.5 clip from the field.
16. Paul George
Along with Leonard this past summer came Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder after trading a plethora of picks and young guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. George has been off and on with injuries this season after offseason shoulder surgery but has seen action recently in limited stints. Doc Rivers would of course rather have George at somewhere near 100 percent for the postseason and the only way a trade for George would happen is if the Clippers were wowed, but very unlikely.
15. Lou Williams
Most teams are very unlikely to move on from their top-three scoring options when they are pursuing a postseason push and that will be the case for Lou Williams. Williams is once again in the Sixth Man of the Year conversation as he is posting 19.7 points per game off the bench and creating offense outside of George and Leonard. His defense has become a liability at times near the ends of the game but with his scoring being of high importance for the offense, it’s something the team is clearly willing to deal with down the stretch.
14. Patrick Beverley
This is where things begin to get tricky, but trading a player like Beverley who has arguably been the Clippers’ best defensive player this season when the team is struggling would create a major locker room issue. Beverley has also been crazily efficient this season shooting the basketball as well as grabbing over five rebounds per game at the point guard position. His defensive presence is always felt on the floor and trading Beverley would only happen in the event that the Clippers pursue former guard Chris Paul from OKC to make salaries work.
