Andre Drummond

The final possible target is Andre Drummond. With Blake Griffin out for the year and the Pistons treading water, Drummond has become an often mentioned player who could be on the move. This idea comes from Brian Windhorst on his podcast. He mentioned the Clippers as a possible destination for the Detroit Pistons’ center.

The deal to get Drummond would require the LA Clippers to give up quite a bit. Maurice Harkless, JaMychal Green, and Ivica Zubac would all have to be sent to Detroit in order to just make the salaries match. It’s possible that the Pistons also try and get a draft pick thrown in as well but the Clippers are only able to trade their 2020 first-round pick due to the Stepien Rule.

Drummond is an excellent rebounder, often in contention for league leaders. This season, he’s averaging a staggering 15.8 per game. He also can be a solid rim protector, averaging 1.7 blocks per game. His free throw shooting is an obvious problem and if acquired, Clippers’ fans would likely have flashbacks of Hack-a-Jordan from the Lob City days.

Getting Drummond would be the most groundbreaking deal and would give the Clippers another star to put alongside Leonard and George. I’m not sure if he is the answer versus some of the elite centers but he would likely be an upgrade over the two we currently have.
