RoCo goes Hollywood

This last deal gives the LA Clippers an upgraded version of Maurice Harkless in Robert Covington.

While Hark does have an advantage on Covington with his freakish athleticism, Covington is known for being a three-point marksman and an elite defender.

Covington’s numbers from deep are down this season but a change of scenery should suit him well. As the Minnesota Timberwolves have cooled off after sprinting out of the gate to start the season, they should be a team that is selling at the deadline.

Covington would also slide in nicely at the four-position around Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley.

He had experience playing around talented bigs in Karl Anthony-Towns and Joel Embiid, but can you imagine how his game can elevate being surrounded by two superstar forwards? That would be a scary sight to see for opposing teams, especially if they want to leave him open to double either PG or Kawhi.

Giving up a first-rounder for someone like Covington may hurt a bit, but the team would have control over his contract for the following two seasons.

It is an exciting time to be an LA Clippers fan. Even if the team stands pat at the deadline, there are sure to be many buyout candidates out there. One thing is for certain, this front-office moves in silence and I would not be surprised one bit if they do decide to pull the trigger on another valuable piece.
