Gettin’ Iggy with it

The one player that the LA Clippers have been connected to dating back to when Memphis first acquired him is Andre Iguodala.

There were plenty of rumors swirling around social media stating that Iggy would be a Clipper by a certain date and even an Instagram post that Coach Doc Rivers “liked”.

TheGrizzlies have stood pat in discussions regarding Iggy, and have said they simply want a first-rounder back or young asset for him.

If the Clippers know that the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets can’t trade for him, they should, by all means, go for it.

Though Iguodala’s age is getting up there and his numbers have been on the decline, his IQ, athleticism, defense and championship pedigree is what makes him worthy of trading away a first-round pick.

He can ease the pressure off of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George with his ball-handling, play-making and setting screens to free up backdoor cuts.

Iguodala has also been well-rested this season as he has been staying away from the team and working out in an effort to be ready if/once he gets dealt.

Bruno Caboclo is a filler in the deal and is a young, six-foot nine-inch forward who has some potential if the Clippers can unlock it.

Don’t be surprised if these two teams get a deal done on deadline day as we have seen it previously. On Deadline Day in 2016, the Clippers traded Lance Stephenson to the Grizzlies for Jeff Green. Just last year, the team traded Avery Bradley to the Grizzlies for JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple.

Until the deadline, all eyes will be on Iggy watch.
