LA Clippers swing for a veteran big

This deal works for both teams as the LA Clippers add two players who have Finals experience and have shown they can produce in key moments for stretches. Meanwhile, the rebuilding Cleveland Cavaliers add a young guard in Jerome Robinson who is still trying to find his footing in the league along with two solid veterans in Maurice Harkless and Rodney McGruder who can help ease some of the pressure off of the young guys on the team.

A second-round pick should help the cause also, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they ask for a first-rounder that the Clippers have from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Alfonzo McKinnie hit big shots and played in the “Andre Iguodala role” for the Golden State Warriors last season when the veteran wing missed time. He was a major contributor hitting corner threes and guarding opposing teams’ top guards and forwards. He isn’t the main piece in the deal, but he is perfect for depth.

Though Tristan Thompson has had some off the court issues with a certain famous family in Los Angeles, he can really help the team with his size when it comes to matching up with teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets.

He is currently averaging a double-double with the Cavaliers at 12.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game and is 12th in the league in rebounds, something that has killed the Clippers this year.

Thompson is also known for being a great offensive rebounder and a decent defender around the rim. If the Clippers can rotate between Thompson, Montrezl Harrell and Ivica Zubac, watch out!
