3) Kawhi is amazing when the light’s are the brightest

Hey! If you didn’t know Kawhi Leonard is good at basketball, then I have some news for you. He is!

We all know that Kawhi doesn’t take the regular season seriously and he confirmed as much last night when he said this game was just another one and meant absolutely nothing and that whoever won wasn’t going to win an LA championship.

Kawhi says all the right things, but he put up MVP-level numbers last night. He also did it back on opening night the first time these two powerhouses squared out. Look at his stats from the two matchups with the Lakers:

  • October 22: 30 points, 52.6 FG%, 6 rebounds 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block
  • December 25: 35 points, 57.9 FG%, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal

He was also a combined 17 of 18 from the free-throw line in the two games. Maybe Kawhi does think a little more about these games. The media love to compare LeBron and Kawhi ever since they squared off on the Heat and Spurs respectively in the NBA Finals.

No, Kawhi may not be putting up these numbers every single night. What he has proven though, especially in last year’s playoffs, is that when the spotlight is the brightest, he will perform.
