LA Clippers: Which supporting cast was Kawhi Leonard’s best?
By Ethan Smith
Number 3: 2014-2015 San Antonio Spurs
Best Supporting Player: Tim Duncan
Record: 55-27
Playoffs: Lost in Western Conference First Round to Clippers 4-3
As Clippers fans, we all remember this amazing team that I would still say is the best sixth seed in NBA history. Leonard, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Danny Green, Boris Diaw, and Tiago Splitter made for an exciting challenge for the Clippers in the first round of the NBA playoffs and made for one of the most exciting playoff series in modern NBA history.
Leonard was just about to enter his prime and the rest of the Spurs veterans were entering the dusk of their primes and despite this, the Clippers managed to defeat this team in seven games in a series that should’ve been a second-round or even semifinals matchup in the Western Conference, and let’s not forget it gave Clippers fans this iconic moment.
Leonard’s other casts all went on to bigger and brighter playoff runs, but this team was special because it competed with every Western Conference team night in and night out and featured three Hall of Fame-caliber players and other players such as Danny Green that will go down as some of the best supporting players in the NBA for years to come.
This loss also propelled Leonard into stardom with the help of the veterans around him and the rest is history. Oddly enough, JaMychal Green was a member of this Spurs team and is currently on the Clippers with Leonard, so even some of Leonard’s teammates from years ago are still helping him now.
