Clippers Slack Chat: Positive early season impressions, fashion and more

Paul George‘s Return
Logan Rapp: Let’s move on to the elephant in the room: Paul George. He’s starting 3-on-3s, with expectations of 5-on-5s to begin very soon. What do we think is his real first start? I know Randi and I were doing some math at the Spurs game and have some thoughts.
Ethan Smith: Kawhi statistically is better than most of the league, but come playoff time, our X-factor is Landry Shamet.
Ryan Snellings: I say start him versus OKC. Why not, right?
Matt Chong: Well, we’ve played seven games already, so a debut sometime in the next couple of weeks feels about right for PG.
Logan Rapp: And for context, this was the general timeline that Doc threw out:
Garrett Chorpenning: I know a lot of people have pointed to November 13 as a potential debut, and that seems reasonable. I would just want to be sure that whenever he does return, he’s at full strength.
Paul Tooke: A start versus OKC would be sweet, sweeter if Westbrook was still there.
Randi Geffner: Logan, we rock at math.
Nathan Jacobo: On this topic, I still believe PG will make his return on Nov. 18th versus the OKC Thunder.
Back at Media Day, he mentioned to Ramona that he would be back in the middle of November.
It would make perfect sense to make your Clipper debut against your former employer.
Randi Geffner: I think he plays limited minutes on a road game and then assuming he feels good, he makes his home debut vs OKC.
Ethan Smith: The storylines in that game run deep. Chris Paul/Shai Gilgeous-Alexander/Danilo Gallinari versus their former team and PG against OKC.
Logan Rapp: Indeed we, do, Randi. I would argue the Hawks game on 11/16 as his first full start.
Let’s also look at the scheduling reality. The 11th game is the start of a road back-to-back, first against the Rockets, then against the Pelicans. I don’t believe that we would put PG13 in that position, having his first time back on the road at all, much less on a B2B.
Randi Geffner: SGA will get so much love at the Staples return. Can’t wait.
Logan Rapp: And immediately after that back-to-back, there’s a five-game home stretch, and that’s a perfect time to get PG13’s engine running.
Ethan Smith: Oh, yeah. He’s arguably the most lovable player in that draft outside of Luka Doncic.
Logan Rapp: I’m deeply sad and also extremely excited for that Thunder game. I’d say get your tickets now because they’re going to get snapped up when people start realizing what’s about to happen.
Randi Geffner: Nate will be there. So will I.
Nathan Jacob: I bought mine as soon as the tickets released, I couldn’t miss that game for anything.
Randi Geffner: I’m a sucker for the “returning player video” montage. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
