LOS ANGELES, CA – FEBRUARY 18: Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeannie Buss and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer wait to hand off the ball to former NBA player and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan during the unveiling of the 2019 NBA All-Star game logo and city, being hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina next year, during the 2018 NBA All-Star Game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on February 18, 2018 (Photo by Jayne Kamin-Oncea/Getty Images) /

The Head Offices

Out of all the comparisons between these teams, the battle of which head office is better isn’t even close. Steve Ballmer is an incredibly passionate owner that’s willing to help out his general manager in Michael Winger to make the trades they need. Jeanie Buss is a mediocre owner that enjoys nothing more than throwing people under the bus and making a gigantic fool of herself. Just look at how she supposedly CC’d Magic Johnson in a chain of emails being critical of Magic Johnson, that says plenty as to why Magic ran as far as he could from that organization

The fact that Buss is so worried about the Clippers that she would partner up with bottom-dwelling basement team owner James Dolan to try to stop the Clips from getting their own arena also says a lot. Facing the facts, James Dolan is about as much of a threat as the team he owns (17-65 2018-2019 record), and Jeanie Buss is so incompetent that she scares away players from the premier team in the league. Truly, we as fans of any NBA team have to applaud AD and King James for being brave enough to play under her, they are strong athletes. And there hasn’t been any mention of Rob Pelinka yet because he might just try to trade away half this article for food stamps. He’s willing to make trades, they just aren’t necessarily in the interest of the organization or the team.

The Lakers head brass are actually scared of the Clippers head brass, that’s what a few years of competent ownership can do. Ballmer has truly been a blessing for the Clips, and without his hard work and passion, the Lakers would easily still be running LA. But, that hard work combined with the drama and lack of intelligence from Buss is exactly why this comparison isn’t even a fair one. But, if anyone needs better reasons than those as to why the Clippers have a better organization now, they managed to swipe up both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, two LA natives that grew up watching a dominant Lakers team sweep through every team in the playoffs. For them not to want to go and play for the Lakers is a picture that’s worth a thousand words.

Final Verdict

While the better duo question is still wide up in the air, every other aspect of these teams points towards the LA Clippers being a better team than the Los Angeles Lakers. Will the Lakers roll over and die this year? Absolutely not, they have a very good chance of finishing towards the top of the West, but not as great of a chance as the Clippers have.

No matter what LA team you root for, facts are facts, and although they are constantly argued, it’s merely a distraction from the fact that no one can escape the truth. The cold hard truth is that on paper, the Clippers are the better team, and even Kevin Durant can attest to that.
