Players to watch for

The LA Clippers have more than a few players that have reportedly made significant improvements since the 2018-2019 season came to a close, and they’ll certainly be worth paying attention to tonight.

Landry Shamet

Landry Shamet has all the preseason hype one could hope for, from Doc Rivers comparing him to Stephen Curry to Patrick Beverley saying he’s shooting better than ever before.

Shamet’s role will likely look a bit different than it did last season. No longer only a shooter, Shamet is expected to handle the ball and take on a larger role with the offense. In addition to that, several of his teammates noted his improvements on the defensive end, including Paul George.

If the hype is real, then Shamet may end up being one of LA’s most important players this season. We should get a taste of what he’s capable of against Houston.

Ivica Zubac

Last season, Ivica Zubac came to the Clippers in a trade that seemed too good to be true. Now, he’s clearly a part of their future plans after signing a four-year contract over the summer.

He was effective during his short stint in LA last year, averaging 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in just over 20 minutes of action per game. Hand injuries didn’t allow him to play at his full potential though, and we’re anxious to find out what his best is.

Zubac is also expected to implement a three-point shot into his game this season, which could make him a much more important player in the starting rotation. Assuming he can hit at a consistent rate, the 22-year-old Zubac could be on his way to becoming one of the league’s more versatile bigs.

Terance Mann

Since Terance Mann took part in the Clippers’ Summer League, fans have been wanting to see more of him. He was impressive then, and based on what a few reporters have said about his performance in camp, he’s impressive now.

Mann will likely see a fair amount of minutes in tonight’s game, and alongside players like Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell, he should shine.

There’s no doubt that his ability as a playmaker will be tested, but as long as he continues to do what he’s been doing, he’ll be one of the most talked-about players on the roster.

The LA Clippers and Houston Rockets are set to tip-off tonight at 10:00 p.m. PST. The game will air on NBA TV. Be sure to follow along with us on Twitter @ClipperholicsFS for live updates!
