Analyzing the list of offseason acquisitions for the LA Clippers
A Night to Remember
July 9th is still talked about to death lately, and for a pretty good reason. July 9th was the day that the NBA became a lot less one-sided in the West. Before that, however, any LA Clippers fan that was awake the night of July 6th will never forget how it felt to get that notification that Kawhi Leonard had reportedly chosen the LA Clippers. Alongside that, Paul George was also coming to the team, and all of a sudden, the Clippers got a lot scarier.
In his eight seasons in the NBA so far, Kawhi Leonard has been proven as one of the best young NBA stars out there. 8,250 points out of the eight years he’s been in the league to go along with 313 blocks, 2,950 total rebounds, and two Finals MVPs to top off all the numbers. Kawhi is not only a fantastic offensive player, but he’s also a lock on defense. For the team known as Clamp City, there couldn’t be a better star to have.
Alongside all that, he brings with him some of the most clutch plays in the league, his most known recent one being last year on that buzzer-beater that barely went in to eliminate the Philadelphia 76ers. He has the capability to pick up the entire team on nights where they haven’t played their best, and that’s something that is truly valuable to this Clippers team that has made some great comebacks of their own after not playing so great.
The perfect compliment to the Board Man was most certainly PG13. Although the Clippers paid a lot to get him, he’s been an MVP worthy player that’s dying to get a true shot at the playoffs once more. Over his nine-year career, he’s accounted for 11,983 points, 3,891 total rebounds, and 1,071 steals. He has some great capabilities in locking down on defense and turning the heat up on offense, and his defense combined with Kawhi really cements the Clamp City nickname. So far, he’s been an all-star six times, but the one thing he’s still looking for is a chip.
George brings to the team a true passion for LA basketball that would inspire even the least interested of basketball fans. His constant sporting of LA Clippers gear over the offseason is chronicled all over Twitter, and if his plays are as big as his passion for the team, he’ll be one of the most fun players in the league to watch.
