The LA Clippers are an incredible basketball destination. They have a top-tier front office, head coach and roster. Here are some young guys they could target.

Sometimes, it feels like the NBA gives up on young players a bit too easily. In a system which (in general) sends the better prospects to the worst teams, perhaps we shouldn’t be so ready to call a 21 year old a bust because he hasn’t led a team from worst to first.

The Clippers are in a really nice situation to be able to capitalize on that, if they would like to. With a front office and head coach that are among the best in the league, as well as a roster that’s already built to win, a young player could easily regain some confidence and form with the Clips. Especially in the regular season, you expect there to be plenty of garbage time minutes with a team like that. Why not give a young player a chance?

If they could find such a player, that could be a huge boon to the Clippers as well. We all know that the Clippers sent away every pick from now until Childish Gambino won’t be by your side anymore in the Paul George trade. If the Clippers could find and rehabilitate a young player or two, that could help ease the pain from those missing picks.

The draft in general, outside of the top few picks, is often a crapshoot. That goes double for the second round. Yes, sure, there are your Manu Ginobilis and your DeAndre Jordans, but those are few and far between, and second-round picks often don’t ever see meaningful playing time. In my mind, if we could use some second-round picks to pry these guys away, we may have a better chance of getting a solid rotation player.

The Clippers depth helps, too, if they decide to go this route. Because there are already so many good rotation players on the Clips, if they take a swing and miss on somebody like this, it’s not like they were desperately counting on it working. It’s a low-to-no risk move, and I think it could benefit the team greatly.

With all that in mind, here are three players that I think could be targets for the Clippers, if they wanted to add a young guy and count on some upside.
