According to his father, Joakim Noah is on his way to work out for the LA Clippers who still have a roster spot available and need center depth.

According to his father in an interview today, Yannick Noah, Joakim Noah is on his way to work out for the LA Clippers.

This report comes via Super Moscato Show, a French podcast. Huge shout out to our friends over at @ClippersFR for translating and relaying the news to us!

Noah has been coveted by Clipper Nation for a while now. The team currently has three centers on the roster in Ivica Zubac, Montrezl Harrell and Mfiondu Kabengele. While Zubac and Harrell are solid pieces, neither is really considered a rim protector. Harrell did average 1.3 blocks per game last season, but he is still more offensive minded.

Noah would not only help on defense in spot minutes, but would provide a veteran presence for the team.

With several possible playoff opponents having elite big men, grabbing Noah would be, well, huge. The Lakers have Anthony Davis who will see some center minutes, but will also trot out both Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee who will be pick-and-roll threats.

If the Clippers manage to make the Finals (as we all hope), there is a good chance they will face off against either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bucks have both of the Lopez brothers on their roster, while the Sixers have Joel Embiid and Al Horford.

Noah most recently appeared in 42 games for the Memphis Grizzlies last season, putting up 7.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.7 blocks in just 16.5 minutes. While he obviously wasn’t at his former All-Star level, Noah showed he still has something left in the tank and could contribute in the right role for a contender.

This is the first we are hearing of Noah’s workout and it’s not a usual verified source. Seeing as it’s his dad that is the source of the rumor though, it’s hard to be skeptical. Keep checking back here for any and all updates regarding Noah and all of your LA Clippers news!
