The latest installation in the NBA 2K series drops today. For the MyCareer players, here’s how you can best contribute if you want to play PG for the LA Clippers.

For many NBA 2K players (myself included), MyCareer is one of the biggest draws of the game. Who doesn’t like to put themselves into the game and help lead their favorite team to a title?

This year, point guard is a position of need for the LA Clippers, so if you want to contribute early, that’s a prime place to do it. The question is, with the current makeup of the team, what sort of PG should you be playing?

This iteration of 2K has ditched the archetype system in favor of pie charts. You pick a pie chart, which acts as a sort of base build for your player, then customize them from there. There are several options for your pie chart, but the obvious one for the Clippers should be Shooting Playmaking.

The late game player comp for this build will be a Damian Lillard or Kyle Lowry type, but you’ll be contributing long before that point in your career. The two places of need right now for the Clips are at center and point guard.

There are a lot of players on our roster who can create a shot for themselves or hit a shot someone else creates for them- Kawhi, George, Lou, Shamet, JaMychal, the list goes on. But right now the Clippers are missing a floor general, and that’s where you can slot in easily.

Right now, Patrick Beverley seems to be the starting point guard for the LA Clippers. While he is an incredible player in real life, 2K has always undervalued defense-first players like PatBev. This will open up plenty of minutes for your player in the rotation.

With the dribbling and passing that the playmaker type gives you, you’ll be breaking down defenders off the dribble, and you’ll be a nightmare as the pick and roll ball handler. Throwing in the shooting type, and you’ll be able to make opponents pay no matter how they defend the pick and roll.

As soon as any of your offensive weapons get open, your court vision and passing accuracy will let you find them for the easy bucket, and you’ll add a dimension to the offense that could take it from great to unstoppable.

Not to mention, as you upgrade your 3-point shooting, you open up the possibility of an absurdly cheesy small-ball lineup of you, Lou, Shamet, Kawhi, Paul George. All of you will be deadly shooters, and you won’t be sacrificing scoring at the rim. Of course, that would never work in real life, but this is 2K!
