According to a recent rumor by ClipCast, former NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala will be joining the LA Clippers in the next week.

The former Finals MVP is reportedly on the way to the LA Clippers. This rumor came out last night via ClipCast. According to the two hosts, a source close to Andre Iguodala informed them that he will join the team on September 3. Why such a specific date? They have no clue. You can listen to the podcast below.

Now, we here at Clipperholics are skeptical of the rumor. For starters, no source is given. Obviously I don’t expect them to hand out their sources, but there’s just zero concrete evidence. The hosts do tell us that the news is not coming from anyone in the Clipper organization, noting just how tight lipped the front office has been.

They also mention that their source did not provide any details on how Iggy would join the team, whether it be via a buyout with Memphis or some sort of trade.

It is worth noting though that ClipCast has reported rumors that ended up being true in the past, such as Ballmer’s desire to move out of Staples. Take that how you will.

If true, Iguodala would add yet another versatile veteran defender to the Clippers’ roster. He also offers yet another strong veteran presence who can play big minutes on certain nights if the Clips decide to rest one or both of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

The 35-year-old has a little left in the tank after being a key piece in the Golden State Warriors’ last few championship runs. Last season he appeared in 68 games for the Dubs, putting up 5.7 points on 50% shooting from the field (33.3% from deep). He also added in 3.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game.

The thought of a defensive lineup featuring Patrick Beverley, George, Leonard, Iguodala and Montrezl Harrell is extremely enticing. The group would be the most fearsome defensive minded squad in the league, while still being pretty darn threatening on offense.

Next. Why the Clippers shouldn't consider Joe Johnson. dark

This rumor is worth watching, especially since they gave us a date. Keep checking back here for any and all updates related to your LA Clippers!
