2. Center Depth

Another area lacking depth is the center position. Now, I’m personally not as worried about this position as I think Trezz takes a huge leap this season, but it still is worth noting. The Clippers do have big men on the roster in Zubac, Harrell, Green and rookie Mfiondu Kabengele, but the lack of size is apparent.

Zubac stands 7’1″ and is still young, but we can’t for certain say he’s the rim protector the team needs. Montrezl Harrell is springy, but he’s a little undersized. The same goes for JaMychal Green. Mfiondu Kabengele is unproven.

There are murmurs from fans that the team should look at a veteran like Joakim Noah. I even wrote why the signing might make sense. He offers a veteran presence that can step up in a pinch if the team needs size against some like say, the Los Angeles Lakers or the Philadelphia 76ers who will trot out a pair of big men.

Zubac and Harrell aren’t a bad combination. If anything, that was apparent in the latter half of the season. They just aren’t elite (at least, as far as we know).

The hope obviously is that the two are young and developed a lot this summer. From everything we’ve seen, that very well could be the case. The Clippers may have to address this as the season goes on, but it makes sense if they don’t look at it now.
