They may be championship favorites, but the LA Clippers are not perfect. Here are five things we are concerned about for the 2019-20 season.

With the additions of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, coupled with a great returning group of Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley, Ivica Zubac, JaMychal Green and Landry Shamet, the LA Clippers catapulted to the top of everyone’s list of teams likely to win a championship in the 2019-20 season.

No team is without flaws, though. Here are five concerns we have for the Clippers as they head into the season.

1. Backup Point Guard

The first concern for the LA Clippers this season is one of the least worrisome ones. The only “true” point guards on the roster are Patrick Beverley and rookie Terance Mann. Mann probably won’t get the full-time backup role to start the year, so the Clippers are without an actual backup.

The likely candidates to fill the role are Lou Williams and Landry Shamet, with maybe some sprinkling of Jerome Robinson. None of the three are bad options, but we just don’t have a lot to go off on how they’ll be as the full-time backup.

God forbid Patrick Beverley gets injured for any substantial period of time, because then the Clippers could be at a real disadvantage.

Doc likely realizes this flaw and will have playmaking by committee with PG helping some in the starting lineup and Lou and Landry sharing duties with the second unit. It’s not a death sentence to not have a pure backup, but in such a point guard dominated league, it’s not really a good thing either.
