Role

Paul George won’t be the team’s main superstar, but that doesn’t mean he won’t get a lot of attention. With Kawhi being so… well, Kawhi, George will end up being the face of the team in the media.

As was said in the last slide, George will likely carry most of the offensive load. He has played with a superstar the past couple of seasons in Russell Westbrook, so being able to defer at certain times should not be an issue. The real interesting part will be seeing who takes the lead when games come down to clutch time.

George has been known to call out teammates in the past for not giving him the ball in clutch situations, most notably C.J. Miles in a Pacers playoff loss in 2017. Still, it’s hard to imagine him calling out guys like Williams or Leonard should a similar situation arise.

A lot of focus will be on the pair as the clock to win ticks away. Both players have options in their third year with the team, so winning as soon as possible seems to be the end goal.

Fans won’t see the exact role George has until at least into the regular season, but the potential of he and Leonard together will be well worth the wait.
