After finishing third in MVP voting, Paul George joins the LA Clippers in hopes of bringing the team their first ever NBA Championship.
The last time we saw Paul George on an NBA court, he was the defender on a series-winning buzzer beater by Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. At the time, no one had any inkling that the play would be his last as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Flash forward to July 6 and the whole NBA world was shocked to find out George had been traded to the LA Clippers in order to partner up with Kawhi Leonard who joined the team in free agency.
George is now part of his third team in four years. He also is recovering from injuries to both shoulders which he had repaired this summer after playing through during the playoffs. George, who grew up as a Clippers fan, has the opportunity to bring the team not only their first ever Western Conference Finals appearance, but their first ever NBA Championship.
Fans won’t get to see George play right out of the gate. As he recovers from his surgeries, there are rumors he could miss up to six weeks to start the season. While that’s probably a very conservative estimate, the team has not yet given any official word on a timetable.
There’s no question what his addition to this team means, but before we get more into that, let’s look at his prowess on both ends of the court.
