Tuesday, October 22 – vs. Los Angeles Lakers

What a way to start off the season. In their season and home opener, the Clippers will host their hallway rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. The two teams will be under a microscope now that they both have superstar duos.

We already mentioned Leonard and George (who will most likely not play in this one), but let’s look at the Lakers duo. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are two of the most complete players in the league. When healthy, they have to be considered one of, if not THE, top duos in the league.

The Clippers, nor the rest of the league, don’t have a counter for Anthony Davis. The thought of him as a roll man with LeBron handling the ball is scary. Luckily, there is a dropoff after those two.

DeMarcus Cousins signed with the team, but he didn’t look like his old self last season with the Warriors after recovering from an injured Achilles. Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Jared Dudley are solid role players, but only if the year is 2013.

Danny Green offers shooting, something the team has needed and Kyle Kuzma has shown a lot of potential, but the Lakers depth overall isn’t exactly scary.

I hate to say it, but with George out and facing the most rested LeBron the league has seen, the Clippers likely drop this one.
