Despite rumors suggesting he was signing with the LA Clippers, Patrick Patterson says to pump the brakes and no deal is yet in place.

Some of you may be happy with this one. According to Patrick Patterson himself, the rumors stating he will join the LA Clippers are, in fact, rumors.

The forward was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder last week, with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski himself reporting that it was likely the veteran forward would land with the Clippers.

You can watch Patterson speak on the rumors below.

With him stating that it’s up to his camp to find the best possible fit for him, it doesn’t seem like Patrick Patterson thinks that is with the Clips. It’s rare to see Woj proven wrong, but I guess this is just another case of him being on Steve Ballmer’s payroll.

Patterson being linked to the Clippers had many fans upset, especially given the team’s need at other positions. Many also cited the possibility of adding someone like Andre Iguodala instead of Patterson who is coming off of a rough season.

Last season with the Thunder, Patterson put up just 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in a little less than 14 minutes a game. He wasn’t too effective from anywhere, especially from deep where he only hit 33.6% of his shots, his lowest percentage since his sophomore season where he only shot three attempts from deep.

There is still time for the Clippers to add players prior to training camp. They may take some fliers on some players and ultimately wait until the buyout market when bigger fish become available that can help them in their quest for their first NBA championship.
