After plenty of speculation as to who would be replacing LA Clippers’ broadcaster Ralph Lawler, rumor has it Brian Sieman will be taking over.

Ralph Lawler’s career as the voice of the LA Clippers has officially come to an end, and as much as it hurts to do so, it’s time to start looking forward to the future of the position. According to rumors, the next person to take over as the TV play-by-play broadcaster will be Brian Sieman, the current radio voice of the team.

According to the LA Times‘ Andrew Greif, Sieman and the Clippers are “close” to completing a deal that would make him the new voice of the team — succeeding Lawler, who called games for the Clippers for 40 seasons.

Greif notes that Sieman has been with the Clippers since 2007, and has previously called games for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. In addition, he wrote that Noah Eagle, son of broadcaster Ian Eagle, will be taking Sieman’s old position on radio.

In February, we wrote that Sieman would be the ideal replacement for Lawler, and the news seems to be all but official at this point.

As it stands, there’s no word on who will be joining Sieman in the booth as the TV analyst, but the numerous voices the LA Clippers had at the position last season seemed to be well-received. Among them were Corey Maggette, Ryan Hollins and Don MacLean, all of whom could seemingly return next season.

According to the New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand, the Clippers pursued Brooklyn Nets analyst Sarah Kustok to be their TV analyst, but she ultimately decided to stay.

If you’ve yet to hear Sieman call an LA Clippers game, look no further than the team’s historic 31-point comeback against the Golden State Warriors this postseason as an entry point. Sieman brings plenty of character to the mic, in addition to great play-by-play calling and analysis.

Assuming Sieman and the Clippers complete the deal, he’ll get the chance to call what could be the most exciting season of Clippers basketball to date. With superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the roster, LA is the title favorite for what has to be the first time in franchise history.

With Brian Sieman on the call, LA Clippers fans will be in good hands for years to come.
