6. New Orleans Pelicans
This team ranks a lot higher than their real life counterparts will. Zion Williamson is going to be one of the highest rated rookies we’ve seen recently. I’d have to assume all of his dunking stats will be approaching the 99 rating level and with Lonzo Ball on the court to throw lobs, the Pelicans can get dangerous.
Zion will be a bull in the post and if 2k still goes the route of clunky dunking animations, he’ll be a tough one to stop.
Speaking of dunks, Jaxson Hayes will also pose a threat as a lob target. For 2k purposes, there could be shades of Lob City.
Both J.J. Redick and Brandon Ingram can spread the floor and Jrue Holiday is a solid player all around. Like post play? Both Derrick Favors and Jahlil Okafor can be offensive threats.
All in all, the Pelicans team is extremely rounded. Their biggest benefit comes from the fact that this is just a video game. None of those chemistry or learning curve factors come into play. As long as the person with the controller understands how to play the game, the Pels can become a very serious threat online.
