LA Clippers’ fans are ecstatic about having Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the team. In case you need more, here are three reasons to love the pairing.

The LA Clippers bringing in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard has given fans new life. We all experienced a similar level of joy when the trade was announced late Friday night.

Our collective minds began to imagine just all the ways the team and franchise would benefit and dreams of championships began to form.

There are several reasons to be excited about the signing of Leonard and the trade for George, but let’s take a look at the top three reasons that Clipper Nation should be fired up for the upcoming season.

3. Both Are So-Cal Guys

In case the media hasn’t nailed this into your brain enough, both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are So-Cal guys. Leonard grew up playing ball at both Canyon Springs in Moreno Valley and Martin Luther King High in Riverside.

He even stayed nearby for college, attending San Diego State. It’s been said that home was important for Kawhi and him finally getting to play in Los Angeles shows how true that really is.

Meanwhile, Paul George went to Knight High School in Palmdale and followed that by attending Fresno State.

Although they are both from California, there is a difference between George and Leonard: Their fandom growing up.

No, I’m not going to ruin your day and say that Kawhi Leonard grew up a Lakers’ fan. In fact, he has stated for a fact that he was not a Lakers fan.

"“I liked Allen Iverson. I was an A.I. fan. I didn’t like the Lakers.”"

While that’s good for Clipper Nation to hear, it’s not as good as George, who actually grew up rooting for the Clippers. Yes, he idolized Kobe Bryant as pretty much every kid did, but the underdog status of the Clips stood out to him. According to an article from The Undefeated, he felt their struggle mirrored his in Palmdale.

This reason alone is something to pump us all up. Not only do we have two All-Star caliber guys who actually chose to come here, but one of them grew up actually rooting for the Clippers. There probably aren’t many players in the league who can claim that.
