Number Three

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum – Portland Trailblazers

These two belong in their own special category of “Guys who shouldn’t work but do”. Both are undersized guards. Both can get their own bucket at will. Both would likely shine as THE premiere guy on their own teams. Somehow though, they just gel. In fact, they ranked fourth in the league in points per game by two man lineups.

Lillard gets all the hype, understandably. Dame Time is a real occurrence. He can close out a game with no trouble. In case you forgot, just look at what he did to the Oklahoma City Thunder this past season.

So, yeah, Dame gets the hype.

That’s not to say that CJ isn’t a worthy duo partner. Last season, he scored 21 points per game, while also handing out three assists and grabbing four rebounds. His scoring combined with Dame’s makes Portland probably the second best backcourt in the NBA behind only Steph and Klay.

Portland has already made some moves this offseason, but it doesn’t look like breaking up these two will be in the cards any time soon.
