Reason Three: The Clippers Can Re-Sign Him

Of course, the biggest fear when trading for AD is the thought of him bolting after a year. Then you’re left empty-handed.

But I think the Clippers can be somewhat confident in re-signing him. Paul George set a precedent; everyone knew that he was going to the Lakers after a year in OKC, but instead he re-upped and the investment paid off for the Thunder.

Kawhi Leonard is in the same point. Sure the Clippers are the favorite *if* he leaves Toronto, but as of this writing, the Raptors are the betting favorites to keep him. I think that the Clippers front office would make the right moves to keep AD.

It would be Davis’ first time seeing such a competent front office. It would be a huge leap from what he’s had in New Orleans. And I think that he would see the right moves being made, and he’d see what it’s like to be a perennial playoff team – which the Clips would almost certainly be with Davis – and he would re-up with us. I’m even more confident in this if the Clips got a max guy to pair with him.

Next. Phoenix Could Pursue Patrick Beverley. dark

There’s no clear-cut right answer to “Should the Clippers trade for Anthony Davis?” There are very valid reason to do it and very valid reasons not to. Personally, I’m on the trade for him train. What do you think? Let us know!
