Clippers Draft Picks
The Clippers have a huge summer ahead of them and they could get off to a great start by drafting Shamorie Ponds out of St. Johns.
Ponds played well at St. Johns in his final season, averaging 19.7 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 5.1 APG while shooting 45.3 percent.
The junior is a pretty solid playmaker who should catch LA’s eyes because of the possibility that Patrick Beverley could move on with rumors of the Dallas Mavericks being interested in the veteran point guard.
If the Clippers could secure Ponds here, it would sure up the backup point guard position for a long time and it would be absolute win for Jerry West and Co.
LA could explore the possibility of trading veteran forward Danilo Gallinari this offseason to free up more than $20 million in cap space ahead of free agency and that would mean the Clippers need a backup replacement for Gallo, and Brazdeikis from Michigan would be a perfect fit.
Brazdeikis averaged 14.8 PPG and 5.4 RPG while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from beyond the arc, so he could stretch the floor much like Gallo, he would just be roughly $19 million cheaper.
Brazdeikis would likely have G-League time much like Johnathan Motley and Angel Delgado but could get minimal NBA minutes until he is ready for the Clippers.
