Clipperholics 2019 NBA Mock Draft: Vol. 1
By Ethan Smith
The Jazz made the playoffs as a solid team but were removed pretty quickly by the Rockets.
Derrick Favors may be moving on from Utah via trade soon, so to build another forward alongside Rudy Gobert will be needed and Grant Williams could be that guy.
Williams is developing an outside shot which would allow Utah to not clog the paint and stretch the floor for Donovan Mitchell, so Williams is the correct pick here with he size and toughness.
After the Sixers were bounced from the playoffs by Toronto, a glaring issue arose, the Sixers need a center behind Joel Embiid.
Kabengele would make sense here as he is a player that will take time to develop to his potential and could learn behind Embiid while getting 10-15 minutes a night.
He is smaller than most traditional centers, standing at 6-foot-9, but he makes up for it in perimeter shooting and willingness to play the four or the five.
The Nets get this pick from the Denver Nuggets(may be out of order by this point), but the Nets should also look into getting a back-up center for Jarrett Allen and they go with Bitadze from the Republic of Georgia.
Bitadze has amazing offensive ability but lacks the defensive skillset to be a good center in the NBA right away, but by taking time and not being asked to play huge minutes right away, he can develop that skill in Brooklyn and develop into a solid two-way big man for the Nets.
The Cavs go best available here in Thybulle after drafting Jarrett Culver at number 5.
Cleveland gets this pick from Houston and gets Thybulle from Washington, a 6-foot-6 forward who plays fabulous defense on the perimeter being considered a top defender in this draft.
He can score when he needs to but enjoys playmaking and passing, something the Cavs lacked with Collin Sexton this season. Thybulle makes sense here in an obvious rebuilding phase despite being a senior out of college.
