With him entering unrestricted free agency this summer, should the LA Clippers look at bringing Tobias Harris back into the fold?

The infamous Blake Griffin trade in 2018 was something that shocked LA Clippers’ fans immensely. What no one expected was for the acquisition of Tobias Harris to be one of the best things to happen to the team.

Harris started and played in 55 games with the Clippers in the 2018-19 season. He was having a career year, scoring 21 points a game and shooting a career-high 43 percent from three. Clearly, he was the best player on the court for LA during the first-half of the season.

With that being said, you can understand the shock when he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February of this year.

Harris was very public about his love for Los Angeles and the Clippers team, which made this even harder to believe. However, the Clippers had offered him an $80 million extension to his contract, which he then rejected. Harris was clearly betting on himself, expecting to be offered a max contract by a team this upcoming summer.

He was put in a tough situation in Philadelphia, where he was essentially the fourth best player on the court. The scoring numbers were down, as his points per game dropped by three points. His percentages also went down, as he shot only .326 from deep, his lowest since the 2015-2016 season with Orlando.

After seeing a dip in numbers, the questions remains as if Harris is worth a max-contract. The numbers say no, but who knows how desperate teams can get this summer.

This could be a great move for the Clippers if they do not get a second star on the team for the upcoming season, or even one for that matter. Harris thrived here, and with essentially the same team in place, Harris could see an increase in his numbers from his time in LA. If that is the case, would the Clippers be willing to drop over $100 million on Harris?

The most important thing that needs to happen if Harris is brought back, is somehow for the Clips to bring back Boban Marjanovic as well. The return of Bobi and Tobi is much needed.
